解釈 This poem was composed on the occasion of the Mizuno-o Mikado's moving from the Somedono to Awata. It came after the "katsura no miya" poem (463). For Somedono, see 52. Awata is part of Sakyo~-ku, Kyo~to.The Awata-in, the residence of Fujiwara no Mototsune,was located there. Somedono is hidden in line 2, "yoso me to nomi" (only from eycs of others); Awata, in line 4, "awatatu" (meaning unclear, it may mean "rise thickly")
