There are two theories of the meaning of "natsubiki"- silk spun by the silkworms or fibers plucked from hemp roots. Lines 1 and 2 (the fibers plucked by hand from summer plants) are a jo linked to the kakekotoba "kurikaeshi" (reeling; repeatedly). |
