"Makomo karu" (reap the true reeds) is a makurakotoba modifying Yodo no sawa(Yodo Marsh). Yodo is in Fushimi District of present-day Kyo~to. Lines 1 and 2 (waters of the Yodo Marsh where they cut true reeds) are a jo linked to lines 3, 4, and the first word of 5(when it rains, it increases even more than usual). |
