"Ashihiki no" is a makurakotoba for "yama"(mountam). Lines 1 and 2 and the first syllable of 3 (trees of the waters at the base of the "foot-dragging" mountains) are a jo linked to "gakurete tagitsu" (hiding and seething). The phrase "tagitsu kokoro"(cascading heart) echoes two Man'yo~shu~ poems, 1383 and 2432. |
