but at home no day goes by without my longing for you Tago Bay is in Ihara District, Shizuoka Prefecture (Suruga Province), at the mouth of the Fuji River. The repetition of the syllable "ta" at the beginning of lines 2 and 3 reflects the lapping of the waves and the repetitious passing of the days of waiting. There is an allusion to Man'yo~shu~ 3670- karatomari noko no ura nami tatanu hi wa are domo ie ni koinu hi wa nashi days may pass when no waves rise in the Bay of Noko at Karatomari |
