The Suzakuin was the residence of former tenno~ Uda at the time the Kokinshu~ was compiled. This flower competition (Suzakuin no ominaeshi awase), held in the autumn of 898, is also called the "Teijinoin Maiden Flower Contest" (Teijinoin ominaeshi awase), after an alternate name for the palace. |
